Today, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder reviewed the progress of the ongoing Riverfront Development Project under the Smart City Project for the development of the Howrah River basin. During the inspection, he visited various aspects of the project and discussed the progress of work with the officials.

The Mayor stated that through this project, along with the construction of strong embankments for flood control and dredging, initiatives are being taken for river cleaning, creation of green spaces, walking tracks, cycling lanes, and playgrounds. At the same time, steps are being taken for waste management, water treatment, and transforming the riverbank areas into attractive spaces to enhance recreational and tourism opportunities.

He further informed that the developmental work will be carried out from Battala to Dashamighat. The area will be equipped with lighting, food stalls, parks, and various civic amenities. He also warned that illegal encroaching shops in the area will be evicted and necessary measures will be taken to free government land from encroachment.

During the inspection, the Mayor was accompanied by Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner D. K. Chakma, Corporator Abhijit Mallik, and other officials of the Municipal Corporation and the Smart City Project.
