On 31 December 2025, the state-level launch of the Chief Minister’s Niramay Arogya Abhiyan was formally inaugurated at Pragya Bhavan. The first round of the campaign, to be conducted from 1 January to 14 January 2026, was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the state, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha.

Among those present at the programme were Health & Family Welfare Department Secretary Kiran Gitte; Additional Secretary of the Health & Family Welfare Department and Mission Director of the National Health Mission, Saju Wahid A.; Director of Health Services, Dr. Debashree Debbarma; Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention, Dr. Anjan Das; Director of Health Education, Dr. H. P. Sharma; along with other senior officials of the Health Department.

At present, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and various types of cancer have emerged as major health concerns, especially among people above the age of 30. In many cases, these diseases remain undetected for a long time and later take a serious form. In view of this situation, the state government has launched this campaign as a people-centric initiative.

The campaign will be conducted over a period of three years, every year in two phases of 14 days each.

  • In the first year, the first round will be held from 1 January to 14 January 2026, and the second round from 1 July to 14 July 2026.

  • In the second year, the first round will be held from 1 January to 14 January 2027, and the second round from 1 July to 14 July 2027.

  • In the third year, the first round will be held from 1 January to 14 January 2028, and the second round from 1 July to 14 July 2028.

During the first 7 days of each 14-day round, health awareness programmes will be conducted in rural and urban areas, along with guidance on healthy diet and lifestyle. ASHA workers and health workers will carry out door-to-door outreach activities. During the remaining 7 days, health check-ups, health camps, disease diagnosis, and follow-up services will be provided.

Under this campaign, tuberculosis (TB) detection through X-rays, sputum tests, and other examinations will be carried out completely free of cost. In each phase, routine screening for high blood pressure and diabetes will be conducted for 3.05 lakh people above the age of 30. Screening will also be done for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and risks related to heart attack and stroke.

Every year, oral cancer screening will be conducted for 5 lakh people above the age of 30, while cervical and breast cancer screening will be conducted for 2.05 lakh women. Emphasis will be placed on awareness generation, dietary counseling, and yoga. Primary screening will be carried out at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.

For confirmation of high blood pressure, diabetes, liver, kidney, and heart diseases, tests will be conducted at Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres, and Sub-Divisional Hospitals. Cancer confirmation tests will be carried out at District Hospitals or the State Cancer Institute. Treatment for common chronic diseases will begin at Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres, and Sub-Divisional Hospitals.

Those identified with cancer under this campaign will have their treatment initiated at the State Cancer Institute. Subsequent follow-ups and monthly medicines will be provided through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
