With only three teachers, the school is barely managing to survive! Yet, as soon as a transfer order was issued for one of its teachers, the entire area erupted in anger. On Saturday morning, the campus of Thapidayal High School, under the jurisdiction of the Teliamura School Inspector in Teliamura subdivision, turned into a protest ground. From students to parents—everyone raised their voices together, declaring, “Not a single more teacher will be transferred from this school!”
Currently, the school has about 86 students, but only three teachers. Running daily classes with such limited staff is already a major challenge. When news of the transfer of one experienced teacher spread, students and parents burst out in protest on Saturday morning. They locked the school gate and took to the streets. Soon after, they blocked the Teliamura–Ghilatali road, halting traffic on this important route for a long time.
Upon receiving the news, Teliamura police arrived at the spot and spoke with the protesters. After about an hour of tension, the blockade was lifted following police intervention, and normalcy was restored. However, strong resentment still prevails in the area.

A local parent expressed anger, saying, “We’re already worried about our children’s future because the school has so few teachers. If an experienced teacher is transferred now, the quality of education will collapse completely.”
Parents demanded that since Thapidayal High School is already facing a severe shortage of teachers, the administration must revoke the transfer order immediately. Otherwise, they warned, a larger movement will follow in the coming days.

Members of the local educated community remarked that teacher shortages have long plagued the schools in the hilly and remote regions. Although the government often speaks about educational development, the ground reality of these schools remains extremely fragile.
