Wednesday marks the 76th Constitution Day. Various programmes have been organized across the country to observe the day. Similar events have also been arranged in the state. As part of this, a Constitution Day celebration was held on Wednesday at the PM Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kunjaban.The event was attended by the Governor of the state, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu. Also present were West District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, the Additional District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner of the PM Kendriya Vidyalaya Silchar Division P. I. T. Raja, the school principal, other teachers, and students.The Governor inaugurated the programme. He administered the oath to students and teachers to uphold the Constitution.
In his inaugural address, the Governor said that our country, India, is the world’s largest democratic nation. In this vast democracy, people elect MLAs to form the state government. Similarly, MPs are elected to Parliament through the votes of the people. They pass bills in Parliament according to the needs of the citizens.The Constitution of this great democratic nation was drafted by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. We feel proud to be citizens of the world’s largest democracy.
On the occasion of the 76th Constitution Day, science-based models created by students of PM Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kunjaban, were also displayed. Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu visited the exhibition and learned about the themes of various models from the students.
It is worth mentioning that India attained independence on August 15, 1947. The Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949. The Constitution came into effect on January 26, 1950.”**
