On Thursday, a four-hour mass sit-in demonstration was organized in the state capital by the Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, NSUI, and the Pradesh Seva Dal, the four frontal organizations of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee. The protest was held based on seven major demands.
The program took place near the Radhanagar bus stand in Agartala and was attended by Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, Congress MLA and CWC member Sudip Roy Barman, State Youth Congress President Nilkamal Saha, Mahila Congress President Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty, Pradesh Seva Dal Chairman, and several other leaders.

Speaking about the protest, Ashish Kumar Saha said that chaos and lawlessness are prevailing across the country, causing hardship and suffering for the people — and the situation in Tripura is no different. He stated that the four-hour mass sit-in was organized jointly by the four frontal organizations of the Pradesh Congress to highlight the people’s distress through their seven-point charter of demands.
Saha further mentioned that apart from these seven demands, there are many other issues which the Pradesh Congress plans to raise through statewide movements in the future.

He emphasized that the primary issue among the seven demands is the growing drug menace. While the Congress is advocating for a drug-free Tripura, the state is unfortunately being turned into a hub and corridor for drug trafficking, and the government has failed to take any effective action on the matter.
The day’s four-hour sit-in saw the participation of leaders from all branches of the Pradesh Congress as well as a large number of Congress workers and supporters from different parts of the city.
