A mass sit-in protest was organized by the West District unit of the Auto Rickshaw Mazdoor Sangh, demanding an end to the illegal sale of auto-rickshaws. The protest was held on Monday in front of City Center in Agartala.
From the protest site, the demonstrators demanded that Bajaj stop the illegal sale of auto-rickshaws. Speaking about the programme, Asim Dutta, the North-East in-charge of the All India Private Auto Rickshaw Federation, said that Bajaj must immediately stop selling auto-rickshaws without permits. Auto workers are being adversely affected due to the purchase of permit-less autos.
He further warned that if this demand is not met immediately, the organization will launch a larger statewide movement in the coming days.
