With the aim of promoting development for the people, the state and central governments have taken up a plan to reduce electricity bills to zero and illuminate everyone’s homes through solar energy. To provide services to the people under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a mega camp was organized on Saturday by the Electricity Department at the Mukut Auditorium in Shantir Bazar.
MLA of Shantir Bazar constituency, Pramod Reang, inaugurated today’s mega camp by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Along with the chief guest, present at the event were Shantir Bazar Municipal Council Chairperson Swapna Vaidya, Vice-Chairman Satyabrata Saha, Shantir Bazar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sanjeev Chakma, Deputy General Manager of the Electricity Department (South District) Samiran Das, Additional General Manager (South District) Kanti Dey, noted social worker Debashis Bhowmik and others.

During the programme, detailed discussions were held on how people could benefit from solar energy under this scheme and what advantages the scheme offers. Officials of the Electricity Department explained in detail how people could avail the benefits of the scheme.
Speaking at the event, MLA Pramod Reang said that elected representatives and government officials must first implement the project in their own homes. When people see solar lights installed in their houses, they will become more aware of the project and eventually enroll themselves.
After the speeches, those attending the camp registered to avail the facilities under the scheme. Speaking to the media, Deputy General Manager Samiran Das shared details about today’s camp organized by the Electricity Department. A large amount of enthusiasm and excitement was noticed among the people who attended the camp.
