From now on, the Panchayat Department will also have its own budget, similar to the state government. Budgets will be formulated for the Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Gram Panchayats. To discuss how this budget should be prepared and implemented, a state-level workshop titled “People’s Planning Campaign 2025–26” was held on Monday at the State Panchayati Raj Training Centre in A.D. Nagar.

The workshop was inaugurated by Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman. He stated that the Panchayati Raj system of the state has been widely appreciated across the country and has drawn national attention. Under the new planning initiative, the Panchayat Department will now have its own budget, just like the state government. This workshop was organized to explain the process of preparing such budgets. He also informed that similar workshops will be organized in the next phase at the district council level, Panchayat Samitis, and in every village.

On the occasion, Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman also reacted to the G-RAM-JI initiative. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the G-RAM-JI project. The Minister said that G-RAM-JI is a flagship initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which will further strengthen the rural economy and improve the standard of living in villages. He added that while MGNREGA provided 100 days of work per year, the G-RAM-JI project ensures employment for 125 days annually. The work under this scheme will be decided through Gram Sabhas.
