It may be recalled that during the 2018 Assembly elections, the state’s then Finance Minister and MLA of Bishalgarh, Bhanulal Saha, filed a case at the Bishalgarh Police Station against Saikat Debnath, who at that time was the General Secretary of the BJP’s Kamalasagar Mandal.
The allegation was that Saikat Debnath had allegedly carried out a life-threatening attack on him. Based on the complaint, Bishalgarh Police began an investigation and later submitted a chargesheet to the court.

The trial continued for eight long years in the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Court. After extensive hearings, on Thursday, the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Court declared that the allegations made by former Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha were completely baseless and acquitted Saikat Debnath of all charges.

The court’s verdict brought immense joy among the Kamalasagar Mandal as well as workers of the BJP Yuva Morcha. Mandal President Kajal Sarkar and Mandal Vice-President Diptanu Das explained the details before the media.
