Allegations of substandard construction work in brick soling road at Betaga Bikarna Baidya Para...

Allegations have long been emerging that most of the works under the Baikhora Public Works Department (PWD) are being carried out with poor quality. It is also alleged that Tapas Dutta, Chairman of Jolaibari Block, frequently collects money from various development works of the Baikhora PWD. According to local residents, Tapas Dutta takes money from contractors for every project, which allegedly allows contractors to carry out all works easily with substandard quality.

The truth of these allegations has now come to light at Betaga Bikarna Baidya Para. Under a state government development project, a brick soling road construction work was sanctioned from the National Highway to the Baikhora Primary Health Centre via Betaga Bikarna Baidya Para. Locals informed that a contractor named Ajay Ghosh from Amarpur was entrusted with the work.

Local residents claim that the road is being constructed using low-quality bricks. They allege that the road starts breaking as soon as a vehicle passes over it. Despite being aware of the matter, engineers and officials of the Baikhora PWD are allegedly acting as silent spectators, raising serious questions about their role and accountability.

Due to the poor quality of the construction work, local residents have started protesting and are demanding that the road be completed while maintaining proper quality standards.
