At a time when border surveillance has been intensified, the police have arrested three Bangladeshi nationals in Udaipur, Tripura. The incident has triggered fresh concerns over security and national interest, drawing reactions from both the general public and administrative circles.
Udaipur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debanjali Roy said that acting on specific intelligence inputs, the police first arrested three Bangladeshi nationals from the Dhwaj Nagar area of Udaipur. During preliminary interrogation, the name of an Indian agent surfaced. Subsequently, the police conducted a raid and arrested the Indian middleman from the Killa area. Police suspect that the agent was actively assisting illegal infiltration across the border.
The police informed that cases will be registered against the arrested persons under the Passport Act. At the same time, a thorough investigation is underway to ascertain whether they were involved in any anti-India activities or had anti-national links or communications on social media. The accused persons’ mobile phones, social media accounts, and other digital data are being closely examined.
Security experts believe that this arrest is highly significant in view of the sensitive situation in India–Bangladesh relations. Such incidents of infiltration in the border state of Tripura naturally raise serious concerns. The administration has assured that no compromise will be made on national security, and if more individuals are found to be involved during the investigation, strict action will be taken against them.
