The welcome address at the programme was delivered by Ward No. 17 Councillor Sikim Sinha. Speaking on the occasion, Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Rani Debroy said that around ₹1.5 crore had been spent on constructing the eco-friendly electric crematorium. She alleged that there were several conspiracies to prevent the crematorium from being built in Ward No. 17. She also claimed that important documents and the entire project file related to the crematorium were stolen from the municipal office. During the construction phase, materials were reportedly stolen on several occasions. Despite all these obstacles, the project was finally completed due to the sincere and determined efforts of Chairperson Chapala Rani Debroy.
For a long time, various social organisations and political groups within the Kailashahar Municipal Council area had been demanding the establishment of an eco-friendly electric crematorium. With its inauguration, a long-cherished dream of the people of Kailashahar has finally been fulfilled.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Tinku Roy said that the completion and inauguration of the crematorium would benefit the residents of the town. He also stressed the need to construct a boundary wall around the crematorium and to build sheds for people to sit, so that visitors would have proper facilities.
As soon as the news of the inauguration spread on social media, residents across Kailashahar congratulated and praised Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Rani Debroy for the achievement.
