The State Horticulture and Plantation Crop Research Centre at Nagicherra, Agartala, is working to expand the practice of potato cultivation through the ARC (Aeroponics Root Cutting) method among more farmers across Tripura. As part of this initiative, a one-day workshop on ARC-based potato cultivation was organized on Thursday at Amarpur in Gomati district under the initiative of the Amarpur Agricultural Sub-Division. Around 60 farmers, both men and women, from the local area participated in the program.

The workshop was attended by Ranjit Das, MLA of Amarpur constituency, Bikash Saha, Chairman of Amarpur Nagar Panchayat, and Suchitra Das, Chairperson of Amarpur Panchayat Samiti. Among the expert speakers were Dr. Rajib Ghosh, Head of the State Horticulture and Plantation Crop Research Centre, Arin Majumdar, Deputy Director and Nodal Officer of ARC, Abinash Das, Deputy Director, and Shamit Bhattacharjee, Agricultural Supervisor of Amarpur Sub-Division, along with other agricultural officials.


In his address, MLA Ranjit Das remarked that the ARC method is a timely and modern approach for potato cultivation. He expressed confidence that farmers adopting this method would achieve higher yields and greater profits. He also mentioned that this will be the first time Amarpur implements the ARC method for potato cultivation, and it is expected to bring positive results for local farmers.

The participating farmers listened attentively to the experts’ advice and raised various questions regarding the cultivation method, which the specialists answered in detail. The workshop was held at the conference hall of the Amarpur Agricultural Sub-Division Office.
