On Saturday, at the Geetanjali Auditorium in Kumarghat, the Darlong community organized the “Yot Festival cum Workers’ Conference.” The event became a unique gathering celebrating the rich heritage, culture, and ongoing social development of the Darlong community.


The festival began with prayers and traditional songs performed in the presence of both senior and young members of the community, marking the inauguration of the day-long celebration. Discussions were held on various topics such as social development initiatives, education, culture, women’s participation, and the role of youth in community progress. The auditorium premises were filled with joy and enthusiasm through cultural games and entertaining performances.


Guest speakers at the event analyzed the Darlong community’s glorious past in comparison with its present context. They emphasized the importance of education, unity, and cultural awareness in ensuring the continued progress of the community.


The chief guest of the program was the popular MLA Bhagaban Chandra Das. Other notable attendees included retired DIG Saitan Khuma Darlong, President of the Young Darlong Association Huan He Liana Darlong, and President of the Darlong Apex Body Thin Kuma Darlong, along with several other distinguished personalities from the Darlong society.


The speakers stated, “The Yot Festival is not just a celebration — it is a symbol of unity and progress for the Darlong community. If every member fulfills their responsibilities in their respective fields, the Darlong people will emerge as one of the most dynamic and progressive ethnic groups in Tripura.”

The event concluded with vibrant performances of traditional dance and music, filling the entire venue with excitement and a spirit of cultural harmony.
