“Bangladesh’s media houses and journalists under attack; every protest by the TJA.”

The Tripura Journalists’ Union (TJU) has protested against the continued attacks, killings, torture, and imprisonment of media houses and journalists in Bangladesh. Members of the TJU took part in a symbolic protest by wearing black badges in front of the Agartala Press Club.
Present at the programme were Pranab Sarkar, member of the Indian Journalists’ Association and President of the Agartala Press Club, along with journalists Sajjad Ali, Alok Ghosh, Sarjit Pal, and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar said that recently there have been continuous attacks on media organizations and journalists in Bangladesh. He stated that several journalists have already been killed and many others have been imprisoned, demanding their immediate release.
Expressing serious concern, he said that due to the recent incidents, Hindu journalists in Bangladesh are unable to step out of their homes or carry out their professional duties. He demanded that a safe and conducive environment be created immediately so that journalists can work freely.
Highlighting these demands, members of the Tripura Journalists’ Union held the symbolic protest, he added.
