Once again, Bishalgarh Police raided cannabis plantations. As per the directive of the State Police Headquarters, the Sepahijala District Police have continued anti-cannabis operations across various police stations. Under the initiative of all police stations in Sepahijala district, large contingents of police personnel—men and women from different TSR battalions, district intelligence units, CRPF personnel, and Forest Department staff—have been destroying cannabis plantations in different areas every day.

As part of this drive, on Tuesday early morning at sunrise, a team led by Bishalgarh Police Station OC Bijoy Das, along with other police personnel, the district intelligence branch, Forest Department staff, TSR battalions (both male and female), and CRPF jawans, conducted an operation in the hilly areas of Raghunandan Thakurpara and Jagat Rampur under Banshibari ADC Village. They destroyed around 300,000 cannabis plants spread across 70 plots.

During the operation, as the team continued to uproot and destroy the cannabis plants one after another, several cultivators pleaded with the police not to cut their crops. Some growers begged, saying they had planted the cannabis to raise money for their daughters’ weddings, while others said that destroying the crop would leave them with nothing and their families would be ruined. Despite the pleas, the police did not relent and destroyed every cannabis field in the area.

Speaking to reporters, Bishalgarh OC Bijoy Das stated that such operations will continue in the coming days.
