BJP high-level meeting to strengthen party unity

Amid growing tensions between the BJP and its ally Tipra Motha and internal discontent within the party, an important party meeting was held at the BJP state office in Agartala on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by BJP's All India Spokesperson and North-Eastern Coordinator Dr. Sambit Patra. State BJP President and MP Rajiv Bhattacharya, Tripura State In-charge Dr. Rajdeep Roy, were present in this meeting. MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, former Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, state cabinet member and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and several MLAs. According to sources, the meeting mainly discussed strengthening the party organization, resolving internal grievances, and strengthening coordination with the Tipra Matha ahead of the upcoming village committee elections. Addressing reporters after the meeting, state president Rajiv Bhattacharya said that one of the objectives of the meeting was to further advance Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Har Ghar Swadeshi, Vocal for Local' initiative in Tripura. In addition, preparations for the celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel through the 'Run for Unity' program to be celebrated across the country on October 31 were also discussed.
He also strongly condemned the violence that took place during the 24-hour shutdown called by Tripura Civil Society in Shantirbazar. It is worth noting that the main demand of the shutdown was the full implementation of the Triprasa Agreement signed last year.
When asked about the BJP's current relationship with Tipra Matha, Rajiv Bhattacharya said,Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha recently met Tipramotha founder Pradyut Kishore Debbarman and assured that “discussions between the two parties will continue.”
Main message: The BJP leadership has taken steps to strengthen the political equation surrounding the upcoming village committee elections and the implementation of the Triprasa Agreement.
