On Sunday, personnel of the 154th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) arrested six Bangladeshis, including a child, from Ambasa Railway Station based on a confidential source. According to initial information, the detainees had come to Ambasa on their way to Jalpaiguri in West Bengal in search of jobs. All of them are residents of Bagerhat district of Bangladesh.

During initial interrogation, a detainee stated that he entered Tripura about a month ago. He used to work in a tea garden in Bangladesh, where he met a man who later introduced him to someone in Agartala. Through this connection, they reached Agartala and later decided to go to Jalpaiguri in search of work.

But before they could reach Ambasa railway station, they were detained by BSF personnel. The detainees said that they were not personally acquainted with the Jalpaiguri agent, but their photographs had been sent to the agent in advance. BSF officials and Government Railway Police (GRP) are currently interrogating the detainees. They will be handed over to Ambassa police station on Monday and produced before the court.

The detainees admitted during interrogation that they had illegally entered Indian territory with the help of a person in exchange for money. Their main objective was to find employment. Police are conducting further investigations to trace the network involved in this incident. BSF authorities have not yet released any official statement regarding the incident.
