A businessman sought police help after being injured in an attack allegedly carried out by a nationalist leader.
According to reports, Swapan Majumder, a businessman from Charilam under the jurisdiction of Bishalgarh Police Station, was attacked with a bamboo stick by Rajesh Das, a dominant local nationalist leader from Charilam Gautam Colony. The attack left Swapan Majumder seriously injured. It has been learned that the injured businessman is a resident of Parimal Chaumuhani area in Charilam.
On Sunday afternoon, all the traders of Charilam went to Bishalgarh Police Station in several vehicles, accompanied by the injured businessman, and lodged a written complaint against the accused leader Rajesh Das.
Bishalgarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bijoy Das assured the traders that legal action would be taken soon against Rajesh Das.
The traders also stated that they are fed up with the harassment caused by the accused leader and have urged the police administration to take immediate legal steps against him.
