Damchara police nab two drug dealers! Heroin recovered from scooty..

Two drug peddlers were caught by the police at Damchhara police station on the border of North Tripura on Saturday evening. The police of Damchhara police station were conducting regular vehicle checking in the area adjacent to Dashrath Dev Bridge. At that time, a scooter coming from Mizoram was found suspicious and the police stopped it and started searching it. During the search, two packets of heroin hidden inside the scooter were recovered.

The police immediately arrested the two youths on the scooter. The arrested persons have been identified as Altaf Hossain and Abu Azual Karim, both of whom hail from the neighbouring state of Assam. Initial investigation revealed that they were trying to smuggle drugs from Mizoram to different areas. The seized scooter's registration number is MZ08 6602.

 The estimated market value of the recovered heroin is around 2 lakh taka. In this regard, Damchhara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sanjay Majumder said that along with the heroin, two mobile phones and a scooty have been seized.  A team of forensic experts quickly arrived at the scene upon receiving news of the incident. They collected samples of the recovered heroin and other items and conducted preliminary tests to confirm the authenticity of the drugs.  The police have registered a case against the arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act and are interrogating them. This successful police operation has brought relief to the area. Local residents have praised the Damchhara police station's efforts to prevent drug trafficking in the border area.
