On 1 December, at around 10:30 in the morning, a gold chain snatching incident took place in Dhaleswar. The victim, Sunil Chandra Saha, was walking on the road in front of his house when two young men arrived on a bike and stopped in front of him. Within moments, they snatched the gold chain from his neck and fled on the bike.
Sunil Saha immediately informed the East Police Station about the incident. Acting on the complaint, the police began an investigation. They collected CCTV footage from several houses in the area and identified those involved in the snatching. Later, the police conducted an operation and arrested the two culprits. The arrested individuals are Ripon Biswas and Bijoy Sarkar, both residents of the Aralia area in the capital. Police officer Subrata Debnath of East Police Station provided this information.
The Officer-in-Charge of the East Police Station further said that the snatched gold chain has not yet been recovered from the accused. For this, further interrogation is necessary. Therefore, the two arrested accused will be produced in court on Wednesday with a request for police remand, he added.
