January 12 marks the birth anniversary of Yugnayak Swami Vivekananda. This year, it is being observed across the country as the 29th National Youth Day. On this occasion, the main program is being held in the national capital, New Delhi. As in previous years, the National Youth Day celebrations will take place in Delhi this year as well.

The event will be held from January 9 to January 12 with youth representatives from all the states of the country. A total of 62 selected students will represent the state at this program. On Monday, a felicitation ceremony was organized in front of Ujjayanta Palace to honor the selected students.

Present at the event were Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Tinku Roy, Department Secretary P.K. Chakraborty, Director L. Darlong, and other officials. While delivering the farewell address to the selected students of the state team, Minister Tinku Roy said that during the New Delhi program, the state’s representatives must wholeheartedly showcase the culture and heritage of the state. At the same time, they should learn the good practices and ideas presented by youths from other states and, after returning, spread them among the young men and women of the state. The minister added that only then would participation in the National Youth Festival truly be meaningful.

On the occasion, the Secretary of the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, P.K. Chakraborty, also addressed the state representatives who will be participating in the National Youth Day celebrations in Delhi. Many parents of the selected students were also present at the program. The selected state team representatives will leave the state for Delhi by train on Monday.
