The Ramakrishna Mission has already launched mobile health centres in the state. For more than a decade, the Mission has been running mobile health units across various districts, through which people in remote areas have been receiving healthcare services with financial assistance from the NHM. Now, the institution has introduced a mobile dental clinic.

With the support of the Rotary Club of Agartala City, the Ramakrishna Mission has started this new service. On Monday, at the Mission’s headquarters in Vivek Nagar, the Chief Minister of Tripura, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, formally inaugurated the mobile dental clinic by offering prayers and flagging it off.

While addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted the various service-oriented activities of the Ramakrishna Mission. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the need to deliver services up to the last mile, as people in those areas remain deprived. Several initiatives have been taken to reach them, and the Ramakrishna Mission has now taken such an initiative. With a financial contribution of ₹60 lakh from the Rotary Club of Agartala City, this project will enable the Mission to provide healthcare services in remote areas. The mobile ambulance is equipped to accommodate 10 health workers, including doctors and nurses, allowing them to travel from one place to another. The Chief Minister added that only the Ramakrishna Mission is capable of running such a system properly and efficiently.

During the programme, the Chief Minister also announced that a foreign language course would be introduced at the Ramakrishna Mission Vivek Nagar School. He said that he had personally spoken to and written to the Mission’s All-India President, Swami Shubhrananda Maharaj, regarding the introduction of the course, and the Mission authorities have approved it. As a result, along with English, students at the Vivek Nagar school will now be able to study various foreign languages.

The Chief Minister further stated that the state government has taken initiatives to ensure that healthcare services reach all levels of society, and healthcare workers are working continuously to make these efforts successful. He pointed out that doctors in sub-divisional areas often face immense pressure, especially regarding patient referrals. In some cases, doctors are compelled to refer patients unnecessarily due to political pressure, which ultimately demoralizes the concerned medical professionals.
