Four Young Women Arrested in Agartala for Attempting to Smuggle Cannabis by Rail...

During a security check at Agartala Railway Station, four young women were arrested with a large quantity of cannabis. Acting on a tip-off, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and GRP conducted a joint operation.

The arrested women are:

  • Jesmin Debbarma (26), from Karbuk

  • Avi Debbarma (21), from Champaknagar

  • Rani Debbarma (39), from Mandai

  • Eva Debbarma (19), from Mandai

According to sources, they were attempting to smuggle cannabis via railway. Based on suspicious behavior, the security forces conducted a search and recovered the drugs, after which all four were taken into custody and brought to the GRP police station.


Following the incident, the police have begun an investigation to determine whether the women have any links to larger drug trafficking networks. As per the law, a case will be filed against the arrested women under the relevant sections.
