To assess the overall situation in the Boxanagar area and to inspect the unfenced stretches of the border, the Hon’ble Governor of the state, Shri Indrasena Reddy Nallu, took part in a day-long programme on Friday starting at 10:30 a.m.

He first attended a well-organised public meeting at the Dayalpara Jharajala School ground under Boxanagar Block, organised by the block administration. Besides the Governor, those present included Sipahijala District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Jeswal, Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma, Boxanagar Assembly constituency MLA Tafajjal Hossain, and other dignitaries.

The authorities welcomed the guests with floral bouquets, after which the District Magistrate, Dr. Siddharth Jeswal, delivered the welcome address. In his speech, he highlighted the functioning of various departments of Sonamura subdivision and the situation in the border areas. The programme was further enlivened by two tribal dance performances.

Local MLA Tafajjal Hossain also spoke about the prevailing situation in the area. Thereafter, the Governor addressed the gathering. While speaking, the Governor said that he had come to Boxanagar to review the overall situation by interacting with people living in the unfenced border areas. During the discussion, he interacted with members of the public to understand how effectively various state and central government schemes were reaching them. He also instructed the concerned officials to ensure that all government benefits reach the people at the earliest. He enquired separately whether different beneficiary schemes were reaching people from all sections of society.

After the meeting, the Governor proceeded to inspect the border area near the Boxanagar BSF camp and held discussions with Border Security Force personnel on various issues.
