In Chhailapi village of Unakoti ADC under Unakoti district, Minister of Social Education and Social Welfare, Tinku Roy, inaugurated the state’s first commercial Coffee Common Facility Centre, established jointly by Growing Seed and the SIDBI Agartala branch. He marked the beginning of the centre’s operations by watering a sapling. The main objective of the centre is to support small and marginal coffee growers in production, processing, and marketing. Present at the event were SIDBI Manager & OIC Raj Sekhar Hansda, Gournagar RD Block BDO Nabarun Chakraborty, and Coffee Board Senior Liaison Officer Sandip Das.
In his speech, the Minister said that there is enormous potential for coffee in the global market, and Tripura, too, can become part of that market. With a commercial mindset and collective effort, coffee cultivation can bring significant financial benefits to farmers. After the inauguration, he inspected the centre and the coffee plantation.
