Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and as part of the ‘Northeast Connectivity Initiative,’ Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jewel Oram chaired an important meeting on Wednesday in Unakoti district, Tripura, to review the progress of centrally funded projects.
The review meeting was attended by Tripura ministers Tinku Roy, Bikash Debbarma, Sudhanshu Das, MLA Bhagwan Das, and senior officials from various departments. The main discussion focused on ensuring proper implementation of central projects, improving efficiency, and strengthening the process of delivering benefits to the general public.
In a message shared on social media after the meeting, Union Minister Jewel Oram praised the Tripura government, stating, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Tripura is doing remarkable work in the effective implementation of central government projects. The state’s commitment to ensuring that every citizen benefits from these projects is commendable.”
Jewel Oram’s official schedule began on Tuesday afternoon upon his arrival at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala. He was welcomed at the VIP gate by Tripura’s Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma and senior officials from the department.
According to government sources, the primary objectives of the central minister’s visit are to evaluate the progress of tribal development projects, monitor the implementation of various welfare schemes, and plan for future development initiatives.
In addition to formal meetings, his itinerary includes on-site visits to several tribal-dominated areas of the state. Starting from Agartala, he will visit multiple districts, interact directly with local people, and assess the real status of project implementation.
This visit highlights the central government’s special focus on the development of the Northeast and reiterates its priority on tribal welfare in Tripura.
