On August 6, the BJP’s Simna Mandal Committee began construction work to set up a party office near Hejamara market. On the night of January 8, a group of miscreants carried out an attack at the under-construction party office site. In the attack, BJP workers Dukhia Debbarma and Hiran Debbarma were seriously injured. Following this incident, political tension spread across Hejamara and the entire Simna area.
The BJP filed an FIR at the police station accusing 10 local Tipra Motha workers of being involved in the incident. However, Tipra Motha leaders claim that the 10 workers have no connection whatsoever with the incident and that the case has been filed solely to politically malign them.

Demanding the immediate withdrawal of this “false case,” a delegation of Tipra Motha submitted a deputation on Tuesday to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sidhai–Mohanpur at Sidhai Police Station. An eight-member delegation, led by Simna Block Committee President Nirmal Debbarma and Tipra Motha leader Binoy Debbarma, met SDPO Sabyasachi Debnath and handed over a memorandum outlining their demands.
Speaking after submitting the memorandum, Tipra Motha leader Binoy Debbarma said that the 10 individuals named in the case are in no way involved in the incident and that the case is completely false. Therefore, they submitted the deputation demanding that those concerned be immediately relieved from the case. He further warned that if the case against the 10 workers is not withdrawn immediately, Tipra Motha will launch a larger movement in the coming days.

In view of the Tipra Motha deputation on Tuesday, the administration put in place extensive security arrangements in and around the Sidhai Police Station premises. However, the deputation programme remained peaceful.
