Focusing on the development of the tourism industry, the present state government is working with special emphasis, said Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha while inaugurating the two-day Unity Promofest 2025 and Children’s Park at Narikelkunja in Dhalai district’s Dumbur area. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury was present as a distinguished guest at the event organized by the Department of Tourism.

In his address, Dr. Saha said, “This is the second time the Unity Promofest is being organized in our state. I am delighted to learn that this year, the event is being held for two days instead of one, as people had requested. The Tourism Department has taken the right decision at the right time. Unity Promofest is not just a cultural event—it is a message of peace, harmony, and unity, and today’s program reflects that spirit.”

Highlighting the diversity of Tripura, the Chief Minister stated, “Our state is home to about 19 communities, both tribal and non-tribal. The unity within this diversity is what makes Tripura special. We are working toward building a Developed Tripura by 2047, and this event is part of that vision.”

He further mentioned that to promote tourism, the government has planned mega events at six different locations, starting with Narikelkunja. “The present government is giving top priority to the growth of the tourism sector. Many people in Tripura are not fully aware of the beauty within their own state. We must first learn about and enrich our own land economically,” he added.

Dr. Saha noted that many homestays have emerged around Narikelkunja, and within a year, locals have started earning well, contributing to economic development. “The way the Tourism Department is beautifying and promoting our tourism sector will soon attract not only domestic but also international tourists. The government is also giving special attention to eco-tourism and religious tourism,” he said.

Among the distinguished guests present at the event were Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Dhalai Zilla Sabhadhipati Sushmita Das, MLAs Ranjit Das, Nandita Reang, and Sanjay Manik Tripura, Dumbur Nagar RD Block Chairman Prem Sadhan Tripura, Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Dhalai District Magistrate Vivek H. B., Superintendent of Police Mihir Lal Das, Tourism Director Prashant Badal Negi, and several other dignitaries.
