On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a “Unity March – One India, Self-Reliant India” rally was held in Dharmanagar, North Tripura district. The event was organized by the North Tripura District Administration. The rally was flagged off at 8 a.m. on Wednesday by Tripura Government Minister Tinku Roy.
He was joined by Bagbasa MLA Jadab Lal Nath, North Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Nath, and several officials and staff members of various government departments. Students from different schools in Dharmanagar also participated enthusiastically in the march.
Speaking to the media, Minister Tinku Roy said that various programs are being organized across the country to mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. As part of the state-level observance, this march and tree plantation program were organized in Dharmanagar.
The minister further stated that the main objectives of the march are to build a drug-free society, promote cleanliness under the Swachh Bharat initiative, and encourage the use of indigenous products. He appealed to everyone to purchase and use Swadeshi goods to make the nation truly self-reliant.
After the march, a tree plantation program was held along the road beside the Dharmanagar Children’s Park, organized by the District Forest Department. Minister Tinku Roy, along with other dignitaries, planted saplings on the occasion.
It was reported that the 6-kilometer-long march began from the Dharmanagar Vivekananda Sardha Shatabarshiki Bhavan and concluded at the Krishnapur Government Higher Secondary School premises.
