After nearly three weeks of relentless effort, the Sabroom Police have achieved a major breakthrough. A minor schoolgirl, who had mysteriously gone missing from the Sabroom area on October 19, has been successfully rescued.

Following the report of her disappearance, police launched an extensive investigation. By tracking mobile phone locations, investigators discovered that the girl had been taken across the border into Nepal. Acting swiftly, the police team located the victim in Tulshipur village, Dang district of Nepal, where she was found in the custody of the kidnapper’s stepmother.

On November 9, the rescued girl was brought back safely to Sabroom by air. Meanwhile, the accused, identified as Krishna Thakur (35), a resident of Kokrajhar district in Assam, was arrested on November 10 after his mobile location was traced.

Speaking about the successful operation, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nityananda Sarkar said that District Superintendent of Police M. Krishna, ASP (IPS) Vishal Kumar, OC Opu Das, and the entire investigation team played crucial roles in achieving this success.

According to police sources, a case has been registered under the POCSO Act, and further investigation is underway.
