Throughout the day, Leader of the Opposition and MLA of the Sabroom Assembly Constituency, Jitendra Choudhury, visited various villages in the Sabroom subdivision to inspect the deteriorated condition of rural roads, electricity supply systems, and drinking water sources. In the evening, he held a review meeting with administrative officials and demanded prompt action.

In the 40-Sabroom Assembly Constituency, several roads, drinking water sources, and electricity supply lines in the West Tekkatulshi, East Tekkatulshi, Betaga, Harbatali and Dasharath Nagar ADC Villages, as well as in the Rajnagar, Madhabnagar and Srinagar Gram Panchayats under the Poangbari and Satchand Blocks, have long been in need of repair and reconstruction. On Friday, MLA Jitendra Choudhury visited these areas for an on-the-spot inspection, accompanied by PWD engineers and local leaders.

During the inspection, villagers presented the alarming state of social infrastructure before Mr. Choudhury. The residents demanded speedy repair of roads and other infrastructure, and also highlighted the need for new roads, drinking water sources, and expansion of electricity lines in certain locations. It may be noted that since the devastating floods of August 2024, the main road from Manubazar to Srinagar, along with many other rural roads and irrigation and drinking water sources, has been in extremely poor condition. There has been no initiative from the state government or the ADC to undertake repairs. Mr. Choudhury assured the villagers that all their rightful demands would be placed meticulously before the administration.

Later in the afternoon, he held a meeting at the Sabroom Nagar Panchayat conference hall with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sabroom, the BDOs of the Satchand, Rupaichhari and Poangbari Blocks, and engineers from the PWD, Rural Development and DWS departments. In the meeting, he highlighted the issues he had observed during the day and urged officials to take prompt measures keeping in mind the needs of the local people. He also raised the matter of providing more work under MGNREGA and discussed wage payments with the BDOs. He further reviewed the progress of the projects under his MLA Local Area Development Scheme.

Mr. Choudhury’s field visit with administrativ

e officers and his efforts to ensure necessary follow-up with the administration have generated great enthusiasm among local residents.
