On Saturday, the State Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society organised a winter clothing distribution programme for the needy at Ward No. 16 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation. The programme was attended by Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, BJP Sadar Town District President Asim Bhattacharjee, among others.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the programme by lighting a ceremonial lamp. Later, winter clothes were distributed among the needy by the Chief Minister and other guests. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that there is a sense of inner satisfaction in distributing winter clothing. “For those who give, it is a joyful experience. In fact, those who give feel even more fulfilled than those who receive, because it provides an opportunity to serve and give something to others,” he said.

The Chief Minister further remarked that nature teaches us many things. “Sunlight, water, air—we receive all these freely from nature. Inspired by these gifts of nature, we take part in serving humanity. That is exactly what we are doing here today,” he said, adding that such acts of service are an integral part of nature itself.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister also said, “We have given, and you have received. Now how you protect yourselves depends on you.” He added that there should be a give-and-take policy in society, and that everyone should also contribute something in return.
It may be mentioned that with this programme, winter clothing has been distributed among the needy in five wards of the 8-Town Bordowali Assembly constituency.
