Based on information that a youth was travelling from the Mungiakami area towards Ambassa Railway Station on a motorcycle, the Ambassa Police Station took action. Accordingly, police personnel set up a naka check point at the Bet Bagan naka point around 11 a.m. on Thursday.


When a Honda motorcycle bearing registration number TR-01-AR-6599 reached the naka point, police asked the rider to stop. However, the biker, identified as Tanujit Debbarma, attempted to flee. In the process, he lost control of the motorcycle and fell, after which he was apprehended by the police.


Upon searching his bag, police recovered nine packets of cannabis (ganja) weighing 13.5 kilograms. According to police, the estimated market value of the seized contraband is more than ₹2 lakh. The details of the incident were shared by Officer-in-Charge Nandan Das.


A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act as well as the Motor Vehicles Act. The case has been registered as Case No. 41/2025, and the Investigating Officer is Inspector Sushanta Mallik. The Ambassa police further informed that the accused will be produced before the court tomorrow seeking police remand.
