A young man and his friends were beaten by a mob while visiting his uncle’s house with friends. They were assaulted on suspicion of being thieves. Not only that, their hair was also cut off. The incident took place on Monday afternoon in the Ashwini Market area near Hapania under Amtali Police Station.

According to reports, a youth named Tanmay Malakar went to the house of his uncle Debashis Deb in the Ashwini Market area along with his friend Masum Mia and his girlfriend Madhurima Debnath. There, the family members and locals suspected them of being thieves and beat them up. After the assault, the trio’s hair was also cut off. Without informing the police, Paritosh De and others took the law into their own hands and committed the act.

Later, Madhurima Debnath lodged a written complaint at the Amtali Police Station against Debashis Deb. Based on the complaint, the Amtali police registered a case and began an investigation. In connection with the incident, the police arrested Debashis Deb. On Tuesday, he was produced before the court with a plea for police remand. Amtali Police Station OC Paritosh Das provided this information.

OC Paritosh Das further stated that the police have registered a case under BNS Sections 352, 356, 74, 115, among other sections, and started the investigation.
