TET-qualified candidates are spending their days in extreme uncertainty due to the government’s inconsistent decisions regarding teacher recruitment. Recently, they met officials of the Elementary Education Department demanding immediate recruitment. Six days later, on Monday, they once again surrounded the Education Department, demanding that appointment letters be issued simultaneously.
Speaking about the programme, a TET-qualified woman candidate said that the number of vacant posts in the Elementary Education Department is much higher than the number of TET-qualified candidates. Therefore, they had come to meet the department officials demanding simultaneous recruitment. She added that a four-member delegation from their side went to meet the officials of the Elementary Education Department.
On that day, the TET-qualified unemployed youths became deeply disappointed after discussions with the department officials. From there, they decided to go to the residence of the Education Minister and Chief Minister to meet him. In this regard, a TET-qualified unemployed youth said that during their interaction with the Elementary Education Department officials on December 23, they did not receive any clear answers. That was why they had come again to meet the officials on Monday. They did meet the officials, but what they were told was extremely disappointing. According to him, the officials informed them that till now they have not even received the list of TET-qualified candidates from TRBT.
Such varying responses from the officials on different days have left them frustrated. Therefore, to learn the actual status of the matter, they decided to proceed directly to the residence of the state’s Chief Minister, Professor Dr. Manik Saha, who is also in charge of the Education Department. There, they planned to seek detailed information from the Chief Minister regarding the issue. He further stated that they had sent letters three times so far requesting a meeting with the Chief Minister, but had not received any response.
On the same day, the TET-qualified unemployed youths marched from the Education Bhavan towards the Chief Minister’s residence. Police stopped them on the way, leading to intense tension in the Office Lane area of the capital.
