Late last night, a devastating fire broke out at Garji Market in Udaipur, completely reducing seven shops to ashes. Within moments, the raging flames destroyed goods that traders had accumulated over many years, raising fears of losses amounting to several lakhs of rupees. After receiving information about the fire, the fire brigade rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after prolonged efforts. However, by then, the shops had been completely destroyed.
On Saturday morning, Dilip Dutta, CPI(M) State Committee member and Udaipur Sub-Divisional Secretary, visited the site and spoke with the affected traders. He was accompanied by a delegation from the sub-divisional committee. They assured the victims of their support and demanded immediate compensation and rehabilitation from the administration. At the same time, they called for a thorough investigation into the exact cause of the fire and urged the authorities to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
