Six Arrested in Journalist Assault Case

On Tuesday night, while returning home after finishing work, Dainik Sambad journalist Mrinal Kanti Debnath was attacked by anti-social elements in the Baradoali area. A group of intoxicated miscreants assaulted him near the Choudhury Mill area of Baradoali. Sensing the danger, journalist Mrinal Kanti Debnath managed to escape by running away, thereby saving his life.
As news of the attack on the journalist spread, it triggered widespread reactions within the journalist community and other sections of society. Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar condemned the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused along with exemplary punishment.
Following this, police from AD Nagar Police Station became active in the matter. Eventually, on Thursday evening, three miscreants were arrested in connection with the attack on the journalist. The arrested accused were Madan Mohan Debnath, Pranjal Roy Barman, and Samir Sarkar. After interrogation, police arrested three more accused on Friday. They are Mrinal Chakraborty, Shyamal Kumar Das, and Biswajit Chakraborty.
On Friday, all the accused were produced before the court with a prayer for five days’ police remand.
