On 7th November, Thursday, the 150th anniversary of the song Vande Mataram, written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, will be celebrated. The literary legend composed this patriotic song on 7th November 1875, at his residence in Kathalpara, Naihati. The song has since become a symbol of India’s spirit of nationalism and patriotism.

To mark the sesquicentennial celebration of this historic composition, the Tripura Pradesh BJP has planned a series of programs. As part of the celebrations, a special event will be organized on Thursday in front of the Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala. At this event, 150 renowned singers from the state will perform Vande Mataram in chorus. The program will be attended by Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha and other senior leaders of the BJP. The historical significance and importance of Vande Mataram will also be discussed during the ceremony.

Speaking at a press conference at the state BJP headquarters, Papia Dutta, the state BJP vice-president, shared details about the event. She further informed that between 8th and 12th November, similar programs will be organized across the nine organizational districts of the BJP to commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram. In each of these programs, the song will be performed in chorus.

Additionally, celebrations will extend to all 60 mandals of the state, where similar events will be held. Papia Dutta also announced that as part of the commemoration, ‘Prabhat Pheris’ (morning processions) and Tricolour bike rallies will be organized to mark the occasion.
