A few days ago, a team of specialist doctors from CIZA Hospital in Manipur, along with experts from the state, successfully performed kidney transplants at GB Hospital. Two consecutive kidney transplants were carried out there, marking a remarkable milestone in the state’s healthcare services.

Now, the same CIZA Hospital authorities plan to launch a ₹900-crore healthcare project in Tripura. The state government welcomed the initiative and allotted land for it at RK Nagar. On the auspicious occasion of Ras Purnima, the foundation stone for the CIZA Hospital was laid at that site by Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha.

The event was attended by local MLA Ratan Chakraborty, State Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, the Managing Director of CIZA Hospital, and other dignitaries. The hospital will be developed in phases at a total cost of ₹900 crore.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Minister said that it was indeed a proud day for the state. He expressed happiness over CIZA Hospital beginning its operations in Tripura and mentioned that once the project is completed, it will bridge the healthcare gap that existed in the state compared to the rest of the Northeast.

The Chief Minister added that the government has already begun transforming Tripura into a model state — not only in healthcare but also in education, sports, and tourism — despite being a small state. He emphasized that all this progress is being achieved with full transparency.

During his speech, the Chief Minister also expressed concern that, even after the inauguration of the ₹250-crore Super Specialty Building in the state, many people still prefer to go outside Tripura for treatment. He remarked that he finds it surprising when people choose to seek medical care elsewhere, despite the availability of advanced facilities in the state.
