Recently, following clashes between BJP and TIPRA Motha workers in Jampuijala , tension spread to Khumulwng, the headquarters of the ADC. The BJP office in Khumulwng was vandalised. Several BJP-supported homes were attacked, vandalised, and looted.
On Friday, Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha visited Khumulwng to meet the affected families. Accompanying the Chief Minister were state BJP General Secretary Bipin Debbarma and other BJP leaders. The Chief Minister spoke with the family members of the injured Mita Debbarma and learned the details of the attack from them. He also inspected the BJP party office that had been set on fire.

Speaking to the media there, the Chief Minister stated that the “culture of communists” still exists within many parties. He said the BJP and the government do not approve of such violent acts. Incidents of arson and terror, he added, have been imported from the communists, and the public will not tolerate them under any circumstances. The Chief Minister further said that power cannot be established by force and indirectly urged TIPRA Motha leadership to abandon such practices.
Meanwhile, due to the incident, intense tension and fear continue to prevail among the residents of the affected area in Khumulwng. Police patrolling in the area remains ongoing.
