around 9:45 PM, a horrific car accident occurred near Atrasi in Rajbapur, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway. Four friends, who were medical students, had gone out for a drive. Suddenly, the car lost control and collided with a stationary truck on the road. The students’ car was completely mangled in the crash, and all four died on the spot. Among them was Saptarshi Das, a medical student from Ramnagar No. 1 Road in the state.

Upon receiving the news, Saptarshi’s parents rushed to Uttar Pradesh. However, due to disruptions in the Indigo airline service, his coffin could not be brought to Agartala by air. Finally, six days after the incident, on Monday, his body was transported to his home in Agartala by a freezer-equipped ambulance. As soon as the body arrived, people from the entire neighborhood flocked to Saptarshi’s house.

Hearing the news, the Chief Minister, Professor Dr. Manik Saha, visited the family home, paid tribute by offering floral wreaths, and expressed his condolences. Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister said that Saptarshi was the only child of his parents. He was completing his internship at a medical college in Lucknow. His father works at LIC and his mother is a teacher. “Nothing can be more tragic than this loss of an only son,” the Chief Minister remarked, praying for the eternal peace of Saptarshi Das’s soul.

On the same day, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumder, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, and State Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha also visited the bereaved family. They paid tribute by offering floral wreaths and expressed their condolences.
