On Tuesday, the day before Makar Sankranti, winter clothes were distributed among the underprivileged at the Dashami Ghat area under the initiative of Ward No. 34 of the 8 Town Bardowali Mandal Committee. Present at the programme were the local MLA and Chief Minister of the state, Professor Dr. Manik Saha, along with the Mandal president and other leaders.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that many people are saying winter has already subsided, so what is the point of distributing winter clothes now. He explained that arranging winter clothing also involves various difficulties, which is why it takes some time. He said that such initiatives are not only meant to make people happy, but also bring happiness to those who are involved in them. When people engage in such social work, two hormones are released in the brain that create a positive feeling in both body and mind, bringing about a “feel-good” effect.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi always speaks of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” This is not just a slogan; in order to move forward in life, it requires belief and effort in working together for everyone’s development. He stated that service is the very essence of the BJP, and the party wishes to remain committed to this path of service. He added that such service-oriented activities will continue in the days to come.

He further said that the government does not tolerate indiscipline, and urged everyone to behave responsibly as civilized citizens. Otherwise, he warned, the government, as a guardian, will take the necessary steps. The Chief Minister said that an atmosphere of peace has now returned to the state. While the opposition is making many statements, opposing is their role, but in reality they have no connection with the people. According to him, the opposition now practices politics through phone calls and press conferences, whereas the BJP practices politics on the ground, among the people. This, he said, is the fundamental difference.
During the programme, winter clothes were distributed to a large number of underprivileged people from Ward No. 34. The beneficiaries expressed happiness on receiving winter clothing during the peak winter season.
