The spread of dengue in Unakoti district is steadily increasing. According to the Health Department, a total of 46 dengue cases have been identified so far in the district, with 13 patients currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital.

Speaking on the situation, Dr. Rohan Pal, the Medical Superintendent of the district hospital, said:

“Dengue tests are conducted in our hospital throughout the year. However, the number of positive cases has increased over the past few weeks. Several patients are now being treated in the hospital, but so far, none are in a critical condition. Many people buy medicine directly from pharmacies when they have a fever, which may temporarily reduce the fever but keeps the risk intact. We urge everyone — if you have a fever, please visit the hospital or the nearest primary health center immediately for testing. Dengue testing is completely free of charge.”

He also appealed to citizens, saying:

“Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease. Keep your homes and surroundings clean, especially places where water collects. Use mosquito nets and avoid taking unnecessary medicines. Stay aware, stay alert — let’s come together to prevent dengue.”
