Former Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik’s brother, Bidhan Kumar Bhowmik, was arrested on Sunday night by East Women Police Station from the South Indranagar area on charges of assaulting his wife. Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Ashish Kumar Saha has demanded justice through a proper and impartial investigation into the incident. He stated that incidents of crimes against women are increasing day by day in the state. Along with this, corruption and drug trafficking are also on the rise. He alleged that leaders—including women leaders—of the ruling party are involved in many such incidents. He demanded a thorough investigation and justice in the case involving the former Union Minister’s brother.
The PCC president also strongly condemned the brutal attack on a mother and her school-going son in the Dharmanagar subdivision. He said that the people of the entire state are deeply worried about such incidents. Citizens feel unsafe. Crimes against women continue to rise. Yet at such a time, the Chief Minister and other cabinet ministers remain occupied with celebrating Bihar Victory Day and other programmes.

Ashish Kumar Saha further alleged that crime has deeply rooted itself in the state. Along with rising crimes against women, atrocities against children are increasing as well. Drug trafficking is spreading across the state. He alleged that such activities are flourishing under the protection and patronage of the ruling party. He added that in the current situation, people from all sections of society must come forward to build a resistance.
