To provide clean drinking water to the students, Congress MLA of the New Banamalipur Assembly Constituency, Gopal Chandra Roy, approved a water purification plant for Prachya Bharati School two years ago. He allocated ₹5 lakh for this project from the MLA Area Development Fund. But surprisingly, even after two years, the water purification system at Prachya Bharati School has still not been made operational.
Upon receiving this information, the MLA visited Prachya Bharati School on Wednesday to inspect the situation. He spoke with the headmaster and other staff members. Later, while speaking to the press, the MLA expressed astonishment over the incident. He stated that the Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) is the nodal officer for this project and is responsible for overseeing it. He said he has no idea why the nodal officer, who is also the Sadar SDM, has not taken any initiative to make the water purification system operational.
It is worth mentioning that during the Assembly session, MLA Gopal Chandra Roy had already raised complaints that various projects funded by the MLA Area Development Fund in his constituency were not being completed or made operational on time.
