The state government is working towards realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Vocal for Local,” and this objective is being kept in focus while implementing every project in the state. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this on Friday while addressing a programme of the Tripura Film and Television Institute.

On the occasion, certificates were distributed to students who had successfully completed their courses at the Tripura Film and Television Institute at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan. The Chief Minister, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, attended the programme as the inaugurator and chief guest. Also present were Secretary of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department Dr. P. K. Chakraborty, Vice-Chancellor of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, Samiran Dutta, and others.

Certificates were distributed among the passed-out students by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the opposition claims that nothing is happening, but for the past 35 years they had only focused on organising long processions. In contrast, the present government is working on infrastructure development to create employment opportunities for the people. He added that the people of the state are witnessing and understanding this change.

The Chief Minister further said that the state would not only have a Film and Television Institute but also a Film and Television University. For this purpose, a 50-acre site has already been identified. He informed that the selected land falls under the Revenue Department, which is under his charge.

Speaking further, the Chief Minister mentioned that the selected site has currently become sub judice and the matter is being examined. He also stated that another site is being preliminarily identified for the proposed Film and Television University. He added that such an institution requires a large amount of land, as shooting activities would take place there, and that the facility would be developed gradually over time.
