Recently, the traffic police conducted raids in various parts of the capital. During the operation, the traffic department seized around 410 high-noise silencers from two-wheelers. In compliance with court orders, the seized silencers were destroyed on Sunday. A bulldozer was used to crush them in front of ABB College in the capital.

Present at the event was West District Traffic Superintendent Kanta Jahangir. Speaking to the media, the Traffic Superintendent explained that such high-noise silencers not only cause sound pollution but also lead to health problems for the elderly and children. She added that it is mainly young bikers who modify their bikes to use these loud silencers. She urged the youth to refrain from such activities.

The West District Traffic Superintendent further stated that under Section 190(2) of the Traffic Act, bikes can be seized, a fine of ₹10,000 can be imposed, and driving licenses may be suspended for three months in such cases.

Kanta Jahangir also mentioned that operations against bikes with loud silencers will continue in the coming days. However, she did not specify whether the bikes from which the 410 silencers were seized had been fined or if any legal action had been taken against the riders.
