The official announcement for the ADC elections has not yet been made, but the battle for power in the hills has already begun. In this struggle for dominance, the two parties in the ruling alliance—BJP and TIPRA Motha—now stand face-to-face. Clashes between the two parties have turned Jampuijala and Khumulwng, the headquarters of the ADC, into virtual battlegrounds.

Notably, on Tuesday, several voters of the Takarjala Assembly constituency joined the BJP at a programme attended by Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha. After the joining event ended, clashes broke out between TIPRA Motha and BJP workers while the BJP supporters were returning home. This incident escalated tensions in both Jampuijala and Khumulwng. Currently, the overall situation in both areas remains highly volatile.

Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha expressed strong anger over the recent chain of events. After an event organised by the Education Department at Rabindra Bhavan, journalists sought his reaction to the recent incidents.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said that wherever the communists have ruled—Tripura, West Bengal, and Kerala—violence has followed. He urged that no one should engage in such politics. Everyone has the right to do politics, he said, but that does not justify such behaviour. Indirectly pointing towards TIPRA Motha without naming them, the Chief Minister warned that anyone involved in such acts will face consequences, as people do not accept such actions.

The Chief Minister further said, “There is still time to change. We do not want this kind of politics.”

Meanwhile, fear still grips the people of Jampuijala and Khumulwng due to the clashes between TIPRA Motha and the BJP. Police and administration continue to monitor the situation closely.
