Monday marked the 163rd birth anniversary and 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Across the country, the day is observed as National Youth Day. To mark this great occasion, the Nab Angikar Social Organisation of Bordowali organised a blood donation festival and youth festival.

The programme was attended by Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha as the chief guest. He encouraged the voluntary blood donors at the blood donation camp and interacted with them.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago, Swami Vivekananda presented a new India to the world. Religious leaders from different parts of the world listened attentively to Swamiji’s speech. He further stated that to understand India, one must understand Swami Vivekananda, and that his thoughts and ideas must be reflected in our lives. He said it is not possible to merely know and read about Swami Vivekananda without following his ideals. He added that India should not follow ideologies of Stalin, Lenin, or Marx, because India is India in its own right.

During the programme, the Chief Minister also felicitated local youth for their notable achievements. He said that international conspiracies are underway to weaken the country, but the nation remains safe, and people have full faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
